Romain Grosjean will give Lotus’ E22 its official testing debut in Bahrain, as the second pre-season test ahead of the 2014 season gets underway.
The Frenchman will get his first taste of the all-new car – which features a walrus style nose – on Wednesday and Thursday, before handing over to Lotus’ new recruit Pastor Maldonado on Friday for the final two days of the test.
The Venezuelan, signed from Williams, gave the much-delayed E22 its track debut in Jerez earlier this month on one of the Enstone-based outfits allocated track days, with the team having failed to ready its 2014 Formula One car in time for the first official test at the Spanish circuit.
Mercedes, Ferrari, Sauber and Williams are yet to confirm their driver line-ups for the first of two four day tests due to be held in Bahrain ahead of the season opener in Australia.
