Bob Bell, Mercedes’ Technical Director will leave the team at the close of the season, in order to pursue “new challenges”.
Bell, who formerly worked at Renault as part of the team that masterminded Fernando Alonso to two drivers’ titles in 2005 and 2006, will leave Mercedes at the end of the year, having formally resigned from his role as Technical Director in December 2013.
Paddy Lowe, Mercedes’ Executive Director (Technical) will take over Bell’s former responsibilities, with the role of Technical Director abolished in the team’s efforts to streamline their Formula One operations
Bell joined Mercedes in April 2011, after 10 years spent in a number of senior roles with the Benetton/Renault team, during which time the Enstone-based outfit secured back-to-back drivers’ and constructors’ titles.
He started his Formula One career with McLaren in the early 1980s.
