Chassis damage has brought Caterham’s post-Spanish Grand Prix test to a premature end.
Kobayashi crashed his CT05 heavily at turn one in the closing stages of the opening day of testing.
Following a close inspection of the damage, Caterham have opted not to run on Wednesday, instead shifting their focus to next week’s Monaco Grand Prix.
“Having assessed the damage to chassis CT05-03 after Kamui’s accident yesterday in the final half-hour of day one, we have decided not to run on day two,” read a statement released by the team.
“While obviously not ideal, this ensures the team can now focus on the next grand prix in Monaco, starting next week.”
Caterham Reserve Driver Robin Frijns had been scheduled to drive the CT05 on Wednesday.
