Rosberg sets the pace in final practice

Nico Rosberg was fastest for Mercedes during final practice ahead of the German Grand Prix.

Rosberg stamped his authority on the session with a best lap of 1:17:… set in the final qualifying simulation run to head his team-mate Lewis Hamilton by six tenths of a second. Fernando Alonso was third for Ferrari, just four thousandths shy of the 2008 champion.

The two Williams’ of Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas were fourth and fifth, the Finn having set the pace on the soft tyres early in the session.

Kevin Magnussen was sixth fastest for McLaren, ahead of Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo and Kimi Raikkonen, whose session was brought to a premature end by a fuel issue.

Sebastian Vettel ended practice ninth in the second Red Bull, over a second adrift of Rosberg’s session topping time, while Nico Hulkenberg rounded out the top ten for Force India.
