The two Williams team-mates of Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas, who both experienced a torrid Friday, were seventh and eighth fastest respectively, while Kimi Raikkonen and Esteban Gutierrez rounded out the top ten.
Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg was 11th, ahead of the two McLarens of Kevin Magnussen and Jenson Button, with Daniil Kvyat, who complained of locking brakes, 14th.
Force India’s Sergio Perez pipped the second Sauber of Adrian Sutil to 15th, while the two Lotus drivers were mired down in 16th and 17th, Romain Grosjean six tenths of a second clear of his team-mate Pastor Maldonado.
