Lotus expects to confirm that Romain Grosjean will remain with the team for 2015 in the coming weeks.
Grosjean scored a series of podium finish at the tail end of 2013, but the team has struggled this season, with the Frenchman collecting all eight of Lotus’ points this year.
With Lotus set to switch from Renault to Mercedes power for 2015, the team is keen to retain Grosjean for next season, with just a few details to finalise before a deal is confirmed.
“Romain is in pole position for that place and honestly it’s a case of us finalising a few details,” Lotus deputy team principal Federico Gastaldi said.
“We expect to have an announcement very shortly. Like the technical package confirmation there has been a lot going on in the offices at Enstone, as well as the pits and paddock. It is all looking very good and exciting for the team going forwards.”
Pressed on the timing of the announcement, Grosjean joked: “Maybe we think it’s fun to keep the media speculating! Honestly, we’re very close to having something to announce but there’s no pressure on when we say something.”
