Force India’s 2015 car will not run until the second pre-season test at Barcelona.
The Silverstone-based team is set to launch its 2015 livery in Mexico on Wednesday, but a Force India spokesperson has confirmed to Richland F1 that it will use its 2014 car – the VJM07 – at the opening pre-season test at Jerez from February 1-4.
Instead, Force India will debut its new Mercedes-powered VJM08 in Barcelona, on February 19.
The team is the first to confirm that it will delay the launch of its 2015 car, in an effort to pursue extra development work.
Force India’s driver line-up for 2015 is unchanged, with Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez set to remain with the team for a second consecutive year.
McLaren, who narrowly beat Force India to fifth in the constructors’ standings in 2014 will be the first team to launch its 2015 car, unveiling its Honda-powered challenger on January 29.
