McLaren has confirmed that Fernando Alonso will debut its new Honda-powered MP4-30 on the opening day of pre-season testing at Jerez.
The Woking-based team confirmed its driver schedule for the opening test via its official Twitter account on Thursday.
Alonso, who returns to the team after leaving Ferrari, will drive McLaren’s 2015 car on days one and three of the first test.
New team-mate Jenson Button will take over from the Spaniard at the wheel of the team’s Honda-powered machine for days two and four at Jerez.
The Jerez test will mark McLaren’s first opportunity to run with Honda power since it ran an interim power unit on a test-bed 2014 chassis during last November’s post-season test in Abu Dhabi.
McLaren will launch its 2015 car, the MP4-30, online on January 29.
