Lotus has confirmed that the debut of its 2015 Formula 1 car has been delayed, with the Mercedes-powered E23 yet to arrive in Jerez.
The team had been expected to unveil the E23 Hybrid in the pitlane ahead of testing in Jerez on Sunday morning, before making its track debut.
However, the team’s 2015 car was only successfully fired up on Saturday at its Enstone factory, delaying the transit of the car.
While Lotus’ engineering trucks are already present at Jerez, the team’s car is being flown by air, and is expected to arrive late on Sunday.
Pastor Maldonado had been scheduled to drive the car on the opening day of testing, but it is expected those plans will now change.
