McLaren has been forced to abandon its third day of testing at Jerez after encountering more Honda engine problems.
After two taxing opening days when it managed just 12 laps, the team had its most encouraging morning of testing so far with the new MP4-30, as Fernando Alonso completed 32 laps in the morning.
However, after a lengthy time in the garage, the team confirmed that it would not be returning to the track on Wednesday.
“We’ve had a loss of cooling water pressure & have removed the power unit for inspection,” the team tweeted. “That’s a long process, so it ends today’s running.
“We can replace those components ahead of running tomorrow. The issue was promptly spotted by Fernando on an outlap – so quick to trace.”
