Kimi Raikkonen believes the 2015 Ferrari is already ‘an improvement in all areas’ over its predecessor after driving the SF15-T for the first time at Jerez.
Raikkonen completed 91 laps on his way to second on the leaderboards behind Sauber’s Felipe Nasr on Tuesday.
“The whole package is quite a bit better than how we finished last year,” said Raikkonen. “We have improved in all the areas.
“It’s just the first day and the first test, and we still have a lot of things to do and improve, but it’s definitely a positive start and we have something to work with.”
When asked to compare his early impressions of the 2015 Ferrari to those of last year’s F14-T, Raikkonen replied: “It’s a lot different. You usually know if the car is good or not good, and this year is a completely different story.”
Despite the encouraging early signs, Raikkonen refused to be dragged into any predict ions about the season ahead.
“It’s too early to speak about results,” he added. “We had a good positive first day and Sebastian had a good couple of days.
“We try to do our best and I’m sure if we keep working as a team and push forward as a team we can get some good results. We are going in the right direction for sure.”
