Force India is set to delay the debut of its new Formula 1 car, the VJM08, until the final pre-season test at Barcelona later this month.
The Silverstone-based squad skipped this week’s opening test at Jerez, with the intention of launching its 2015 car at the second test at Barcelona on February 19.
However, the team is now likely to delay the debut of the VJM08 until the final test, and appears set to use its 2014 car instead when testing continues in Barcelona.
“Although everybody is working towards getting the VJM08 to the next test session in Barcelona, it’s more likely the new car will appear at the final Barcelona test,” a Force India spokesperson confirmed to Richland F1 on Wednesday.
“So, that would mean running the 2014 car at the first Barcelona test.”
Delaying the launch until the final test means Force India will have just four days to prepare its 2015 car ahead of the season opener in Australia.
The team, which launched its 2015 livery in Mexico last month, has retained its 2014 driver line-up of Sergio Perez and Nic Hulkenberg.
