Sergio Marchionne is not expecting miracles from Ferrari in 2015, despite the team’s early testing form.
New Ferrari recruit Sebastian Vettel topped the two opening days of testing at Jerez, while Kimi Raikkonen set the fastest time of the entire test on the final day of running.
While new Ferrari boss Marchionne is impressed by the team’s early testing form, he says it is too early to know exactly how much progress the Maranello-based squad had made over the winter.
“I am encouraged by the performance of the new car, though it is one thing to do a quick lap, another to do an entire race,” Marchionne told the BBC.
“I have so much confidence in the work of the boys. I am proud of their work.
“Now we’ll see when the world championship starts in Australia. I do not expect miracles, but it is important to see progress.
“At the Barcelona test, I expect the ultimate proof of what we have done so far.”
Pre-season testing resumes at the Circuit de Catalunya on February 19.
