Force India has confirmed that it will delay the launch of its 2015 Formula 1 car until the final pre-season test in Barcelona.
The Silverstone-based squad skipped the opening test in Jerez and deputy team boss Bob Fernley admitted earlier this month that it would be a struggle to prepare the new VJM08 in time for the first Barcelona test, which starts on February 19.
With the debut of the new car delayed, it will instead use its 2014 car at next week’s four-day test at the Circuit de Catalunya.
“The VJM07 will be used next week in Barcelona,” a Force India spokesperson confirmed to Richland F1 on Friday. “The new car is still expected to debut at the final test.”
If the team does manage to ready the new VJM08 in time for the final test, which runs from February 26 – March 1 at the Spanish circuit, it will have just four days of running ahead of the 2015 season opener in Australia.
The team also confirmed that it will reveal its driver line-up for the first Barcelona test next week.
